GUWAHATI: Imprisoned Shivsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi for Raijor Dal has requested that the chief minister, health minister, and finance minister of Assam to get all Assamese citizens vaccinated against COVID-19 within three months.

MLA Gogoi wrote the letter to the newly formed Assam government from jail.

Gogoi stated in the letter that the cabinet decision has not been enforced in practice and that it is now an ordeal for CM  Sarma.

"CM Sarma's ability and competence would be proven if he can bring 6 crores 60 lakh COVID vaccines from the centre for 3 crores 30 lakh citizens of the state," Gogoi said.

Talking about the recent suicide case of a COVID-19 patient, who committed suicide by jumping from the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) building, Gogoi advised the health minister Keshav Mahanta to divide the health department into two parts, physical health, and mental health.

Gogoi said because of the terrible situation of COVID-19, patients become mentally exhausted, and they need therapy for this.

He also demanded that any family with a ration card must have free additional rations. Rice, pulses, potatoes, and candy are all good options. Similarly, families affected by the disaster shall be entitled to Rs. 5,000 in compensation for 3 to 4 months.

According to Akhil Gogoi, the state is currently experiencing all of these issues because the government was uncertain of the second wave of the COVID pandemic.

Criticizing prime minister Narendra Modi, in this letter, MLA Gogoi demanded that the construction work of Central Vista be suspended and now the people of the country need to be provided with an accessible, universal, free COVID  vaccine.

He further demanded an improvement in the state's COVID test, claiming that if the COVID test is not increased in village areas, Assam's people would not be easily saved from the COVID pandemic.
