KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has filed her nomination from the high-profile constituency, Nandigram as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the East Midnapore district today.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief CM Banerjee filed her nomination even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) upped its ante tried to tag her as an “outsider” in Nandigram.

CM Banerjee filed her nomination at the SDO’s office in Haldia in East Midnapore.

Suvendu Adhikari, Banerjee's protégé-turned-adversary who has been fielded against her by the BJP, has already unleashed an attack on her, stating that she is an outsider in Nandigram.

Reacting to this CM Banerjee yesterday hit back saying that some people saying that she is an outsider. “When she is from Bengal, how can she be an outsider?

She further said, “people coming from Delhi are not outsiders? Goons coming from Rajasthan are not outsiders?”

If she is an outsider she shouldn’t have been the chief minister,” she added.

In and around Nandigram, both the BJP and the TMC have placed posters. Although BJP posters claim that Nandigram wants its own Bhoomiputra Suvendu Adhikari, while TMC posters with Mamata Banerjee cutouts claim that Bengal wants its own daughter.
