Mary Kom feels 'bad to come back with nothing', says results were manipulated

NEW DELHI: Ace Pugilist from Manipur Mary Kom on Saturday said that she feels bad coming back with nothing along with stating that the results were manipulated.

"It was manipulated (decision) & cheating. I won the 1st 2 rounds(in Round of 16 clash)& how can I lose then. I want to apologize to the country", she said.

On being asked getting back into the field, she would love to do a comeback and that she can play till the age of 40.

"Yes, yes. Why not? I still have the age. I can play till 40, said Mary Kom on being asked about making a comeback", she said.

Mary bid adieu to the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday after she lost her Round of 16 clash in the Women’s Flyweight category against Colombia’s Ingrit Lorena Valencia.

The boxer further said that she was asked to change her jersey during the game.

"Before the bout, the official came to me &said you can't wear your own jersey. In the 1st match, I wore the same jersey &nobody complained. They should tell us before ✓ our playing kit", said said.

Terming it as mental harassment, Mary Kom questioned that only she was asked to change the jersey and not anyone from a any other country.

Mary kom had previously defeated Valencia in the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Championship, and this marked Colombian’s first career victory against the legend.
