SHILLONG: The
Meghalaya government Thursday carried out the induction training program of 38 newly appointed officers of the Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) of the 2021 batch.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma graced the event with his presence.
Congratulating the officers, the Chief Minister said, "I congratulate them for reaching the first step towards serving Meghalaya and its people."
"Today we inducted 38 newly appointed officers of the Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS).
Service to people and the State must be their motivating factor. Urged them to serve with purpose and integrity, keeping people first as they discharge their duties for overall growth and development of the State. I wish each of them the very best, said Sangma taking to Twitter.

Sangma added that their service to people and the State must be their motivating factor.
The induction program was carried out adhering to the COVID-10 protocols laid out by the government.
The state stands at 4537 active cases of COVID-19 as on July 1. A total of 44709 patients have recovered from the infection so far. The death toll due to the virus ahs reached up to 577.
Recently a top Meghalaya official has cautioned that more than 90 percent of cases of COVID-19 registered in the state are of delta variant as per genome-sequencing samples taken.
Sampath Kumar, Principal Secretary of Health, Meghalaya said that this should be a reason for caution and extra precaution for the people living in the state.
Kumar through a statement informed that the state has left no stone unturned to ramp up the vaccination drive in a bid to flatten the curve.
“With the anticipated third wave of the pandemic, the welfare of the people should be considered of prime importance,” Kumar added.
It was asserted that it is inevitable to return to normalcy by gradually easing the lockdown in the interest of the livelihood of the people and the economy in general even though the current underlying restrictions are for the betterment of the public as well.
