Naga bodies support talks between GoI and NSCN (IM) for final settlement

The Concerned Citizen’s Forum Mokokchung (CCFM) and the Senior Citizens Forum Mokokchung (SCFM) on Tuesday said that they stand with the declaration of the 4th Naga Peoples Consultation on the Indo-Naga Political talk, held at Hebron on January 20 and 21.

In a press release, L Temjen Paul, Concerned Citizens Forum Mokokchung and Lanukaba, Senior Citizens Forum, Mokokchung stated that the Naga people representing different organizations from across the Naga homeland gathered in the historic two days meet had intensive and honest interactions with the collective leadership of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim.

The Forums stated that the said meet declared the fullest support for an honorable solution to the Indo Naga political issue on the basis of the Uniqueness of the Naga history and situation; that the unification of all Naga areas is legitimate and therefore non- negotiable; that the political solution should be found through peaceful means, and that, both Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim uphold utmost sincerity towards finding a political solution.

The two organizations once again upheld the Ao Senden official position and mandate given to the National Socialist Council of Nagalim collective leadership in 2005, that they strongly support the ongoing talk between the National Socialist Council of Nagalim and the Government of India for final settlement to Indo-Naga political issue on the foundation of the Framework Agreement.

The two organizations urged upon the Government of India to exercise its democratic maturity and recognize the Naga national flag and constitution (Yezabo) “which is naturally ours, and without which, there can be no acceptable and honorable solution to Indo-Naga political solution.”

The two organizations, while appreciating the present government led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his statesmanship in showing genuine concern to resolve the Naga political issue, once again called upon the Government of India to take into cognizance all the efforts and concord made between the Naga leaders and the five former Prime ministers of Indian (Lt. P.V. Narasimha Rao, Lt. Atal Behari Vajpayee, H D Deve Gowda, Inder Kumal Gujral, Manmohan Singh) who had given due recognition to Naga Problem as a ‘political problem’ and the ‘Uniqueness of the Naga History’.

“With all these facts now established the Indo Naga political issue be now concluded honorably on the basis of historical proprieties,” the Forums stated.
