DIMAPUR: The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) today urged the Nagaland government to issue an official order on fee waiver by all the schools in the State. It said the order should be issued in line with the successive court orders.

The federation also demanded that the State government strictly implement ‘no work, no pay’ policy after finding that most of the government teachers have been neglecting their duties at a time when the online classes are being conducted in full swing.

The NSF placed the demands to School Education principal director Shanavas C at a meeting in Kohima today.

It said the education sector is worst impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic threatening to throw the future of the students in jeopardy.

The federation, in a release issued by its president Kegwayhun Tep and general secretary  Siipuni Ng Philo, said Shanavas assured that the government and the department will take steps in the right direction in this connection.

It also appealed to all the educated youths, particularly in rural sector where lack of access to technology has largely hampered the teaching-learning process, to play a proactive role in imparting education to the student community affected by the ongoing closure of educational institutions. It urged the economically sound parents to pay off the school fees of their ward(s) on time so that the continuous cycle of teaching-learning process remains unaffected.

The NSF appreciated the Catholic community of the State and all other educational institutions which came forward to help the needy students in the form of fee waiver during the previous academic year.
