Nagaland records highest single day spike of 207 COVID-19 positive cases

KOHIMA: Nagaland yesterday recorded 207 COVID-19 positive cases in the state's biggest single day spike so far this year.

The state also reported one COVID death in Dimapur.

A total of 177 cases were registered from Dimapur, 13 from Kohima, 9 from Tuensang, 3 each from Longleng and Mokokchung, and 1 each from Mon and Peren districts, according to health and family welfare minister S Pangnyu Phom in a tweet.

Altogether 112 new cases were identified among returnees/travellers, 90 among traced contacts, four among the armed forces/security staff, and one from a frontline worker.

Furthermore, 16 patients have recovered from the infection, including eight in Kohima, seven in Dimapur, and one in Wokha.

With this, the total number of cases recovered has risen to 12,151.

The state now has a total of 13,445 cases, with 874 of them being involved. So far, 89 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in the state.
