GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal shared a post on Facebook today to express his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping “the welfare of Assam”, a top priority only to understand that netizens of Assam are yet to get over from recent interview of CM Sonowal with a leading news channel of India.
Yesterday, a mild earthquake jolted Assam and its adjoining areas around 8.50 pm. Taking the reference of the same, Sonowal took to his social media handle to share that PM Modi called him to take stock if any damage was caused.
“My heartfelt thanks to Modi Ji for always keeping the welfare of Assam, a top priority,” shared Sonowal on Facebook.
And that was enough to trigger the netizens’ troll, at a time when the final phase of assembly polls is under way, and hundreds of trolls poured under his post in the comment section.
“Last time he asked you about the privatisation, Adani, Ambani and you spoke about forest and pollution. Last night Modi asked you about something and you replied something. We want proof of that call. Can you?” commented one of the users.
And that continued with comments like “Who has written the post for you in English?”, “He must have called you to ask whether the assets he is thinking of selling are damaged or okay.”, “If he calls next time, ask why Assam floods are not considered a national issue?”
“In the time of the flood, where was his top priority Mr. CM?” another user asked. This followed a reply, “That was not election time. Why would he care for you.”
Recently, Assam CM Sonowal had given an interview to national TV channel, where he could be seen ignoring tough questions put by the news anchor. Since the moment that interview had gone viral, netizens have been hell-bent to troll Sonowal in and out.
