KOKRAJHAR: Former National Liberation Front of Bodoland, M Batha and other members of the outfit that laid down arms on Friday has expressed gratitude to the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government for establishing long-term peace in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) as well as the entire state.
“We firmly believe that under the leadership of a dynamic Chief Minister like Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Bodo community along with other tribes and indigenous communities would witness their needs and grievances resolved pragmatically,” said NLFB.
The insurgent group further stated that they were certain that the current state government would expeditiously resolve the long-pending demands of the Bodo community ensuring prompt and dignified rehabilitation of the leaders and cadres of the Bodo groups/armed organisations who signed the third Bodo Peace Accord on January 27, 2020.
“We also determinedly look forward to the implementation of the said Peace Accord in true letter and spirit,” NLFB said.
As many as 23 members of the extremist outfit along with their leader M Batha surrendered in Udalguri district’s Lalpani yesterday.
