Paying obeisance to the goddess, the former Congress president took to his Twitter handle to tweet: “We are with you in the struggle for Assam’s self-respect and progress.”
Talking to media at Kamakhya Temple, he said: “Congress will fulfill its five guarantees come what may. We are not BJP, we stick to our commitments. The party has proved it in the states such as Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Karnataka. This time we will prove it in Assam.”
Rahul Gandhi started his campaign trail from Chhaygaon constituency addressing a rally for Congress candidate Rekibuddin Ahmed and proceeded to address another at Barkhetri for party candidate Diganta Barman.
He had to cancel three rallies yesterday after failing to land at Kumbhirgram airport in Silchar due to inclement weather. Later on, he released a video message addressing the party supporters.
