Sikkim is facing dual crisis. On one hand, number of Covid cases in the state are increasing rapidly specially in East district and on the other hand torrential rain has blocked all the district highways and rural roads. The state have been facing immense crisis of milk and local vegetables.

Following the report of positive cases from Special Branch, Office, Sikkim High Court, District Administrative Centre, one building at MG Marg, heart of Gangtok town, Urban development department, Law department at Civil secretariat and Legal Meteorology unit  has been declared as containment zone for 72 hrs for sanitisation purpose. Laal market which is Gangtok's largest vegetable market was also declared containment zone following 25 cases and one death. Similalry, Singtam district hospital has also been declared containment zone.

On the other hand, several state and national highways have been blocked due to torrential rains. Road from Namchi to Jorethang has been blocked at 12th smile diverted towards Assangthang Helipad, Hingdam to Legship west sikkim road has been blocked at Nardang, Kewzing to Saghbari via Tingmoo blocked, Bermoik to Namchi via Phongla blocked at Vedghari, Manglay to Singtam road blocked at shipchu bridge and Guyey Fatak, Rabong to Yangang road open for big vehicles only, Yangang to Lingmoo road blocked at Mangzing, Jorethang to Melli road blocked near Rolu and pakka Pool, Namchi to Reshi West Sikkim via wok-sikkip blocked in south Sikkim.

While in West Sikkim,  Legship-Reshi road blocked near Tatopani, Reshi Nayabazar road blocked at kaijaley, Pelling Dentam road blocked at Som, Legship Geyzing road blocked at 4th mile.

While in North District, Mangan to Gangtok via Rakdung-Tintek road blocked at Sokpey, Mangan to Gangtok via Phodong-kabi road clear.

In East district, Singtam to 32 no. road blocked Near Gai Dhara, Singtam to Rangpo road one way clear at 20th mile, Singtam to sirwani road blocked at Sirwani sliding point and Singtam to Makha road blocked at Dipu Dara.

Fresh landslide has occured at National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (Teesta stage 5) dam site. This is the third time in last two months the site has witnessed landslide and has also damaged part of the dam. Due to the landslide, road leading to Lower Dzongu has been blocked.
