GANGTOK: Vaccination for those above 18 years of age will be stopped from 28 May as there are no more vaccines left in the state.

As Sikkim only has 500 doses of COVID-19 vaccination, only the Thakurbari slot will be available tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the state govt has written to the centre to allow it to use vaccines reserved for 45 years and above as the duration for the second dose has been extended to three months.

Sikkim has been allocated only 11, 060 doses for the month of June for those above 18 years of age.

In the past 24 hours, Sikkim reported  295 new cases of COVID-19, taking the state's caseload to 13806.

The new cases include 141 from the East district, 43 in the West district, 110 in the South district, and one in the North district.

Sikkim's COVID death toll stands at 239, with two more new fatalities being reported during the period.

The state currently has 3423 active cases of the virus and a total of  9934 people have so far been recovered from the infection till date.
