Tripura's senior journalist Tanmoy Chakraborty passes away

AGARTALA: Senior journalist Tanmoy Chakraborty passed away around 8.20 pm here this evening following post-COVID complications.

He was 42 and is survived by his wife and a 10-year-old daughter.

Family sources said Chakraborty was admitted to a private hospital here and suffered a cardiac arrest just before he was supposed to undergo a liver surgery tonight.

He was admitted to the hospital in a serious condition of lung infection after recovering from COVID-19. His condition deteriorated in the hospital, and was stated to have gone into coma.

He regained consciousness today and doctors were preparing him for surgery before he suffered the heart attack, sources close to him said.

Chakraborty was associated with several news channels and web portals, including InsideNE, in his journalistic career.

Several journalists' organisations here have condoled his demise.
