GUWAHATI: Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh today thundered against the ruling BJP-led alliance over its alleged attempt to "obliterate" the memory of the youths who were killing in firing by police during the anti-CAA agitation in the state.

"Amit Shah says there was no violence in Assam. How did Dipanjal Das get shot? Will the Home Minister answer this? Who shot Sam Stafford and 3 others who were hit with bullets? Was that not violent? All of Assam burned and he says that there was no violence," Vallabh told InsideNE against the background of Shah’s declaring that there has not been any violence in the state since the saffron party came to power.

Bristling at Shah about his comments on flooding in the state, Vallabh said, "Next time you come to Assam, please go and witness the Brahmaputra. You (Shah) have not even seen the Brahmaputra from an airplane, and you make such comments.”

Vallabh also slammed the ruling dispensation over the non-sealing of the porous borders with Bangladesh. "With governments in both the Centre and the State, you have not even sealed a one-meter stretch of the border."

Asked about Amit Shah's allegation that Congress killed more people during the six-year-long Assam Agitation (1979-85), he said, "They have been in power for the past 5 years and whenever we ask them any question, they bring up the past. They need to come out of the history and talk about the development of Assam."

The Congress leader also took potshots at the ruling alliance for not declaring a chief minister candidate in the state. "There is one mama who is dancing all over Assam, and another syndicate-ananda who has no clue. I would like to ask who will be the CM. They have no asnwer. This is the first time that I am witnessing that a sitting government has been unable to assert that it's chief minister will be sworn in again if re-elected."
