DHUBRI: A body that was buried in the riverine banks of Assam's Dhubri district around 30 years ago got exposed today following soil erosion.

As the river level continues to rise due to heavy rainfall in the area, a portion of the cemetery became submerged, causing erosion in the Bhelengamari village exposing ¼ of the body.

"He was a quiet man who did not socialise much, did not appear intoxicated, and was always busy with religious worship," a local told InsideNE.

Later, locals took the initiative to save the body without handling it, covering the remaining corpse with bamboo and other necessities.
