Assam: Actress Aimee Baruah's Dimasa movie wins big at International film fest

GUWAHATI: Popular Assamese actress Aimee Baruah has achieved a big milestone by winning as many as three awards at the Tagore International Film Festival.

Baruah’s film ‘Semkhor’, bagged a total of three awards, in three different categories.

‘Semkhor’, a Dimasa film was directed by Baruah. She also played the role of a protagonist in the film.

The film won the ‘Best Narrative’, ‘Best Women Film’ and ‘Best Debut Film Maker’ awards.

Baruah took to social media to share the news with her fans. She also congratulated the cast and crew of the film on the big achievement.

"My gratitude and respect to everyone involved in the picture. Today the film has been achieved by the good acting of many people who never came in front of the camera and never thought of coming. We are grateful and indebted forever to everyone," a part of Aimee's shared post read.

Aimee Baruah, a popular name in the Assamese film industry, has worked in scores of feature films and VCD albums. Some of her hits include, Chal Gori, Anjana and Raangdhali. She has also worked in the Assamese soap opera Megharanjani.

Aimee, as a class six student, made her debut in the film 'Axomor Sadhu Kotha', where she played the role of Tejimola.

She later played the lead role in the Assamese blockbuster Prem aru Prem.
