GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Friday provided appointment letters to the family members six martyred Assam Police personnel who lost their lives in the July 26 Assam-Mizoram border clash, under the compassionate ground appointments.

A compassionate Appointment is an appointment that is made under the OM No.ABP 357/80/VOL-I/303 dated 02/03/2009 issued by the Personnel (B) Department.

A Government employee who died in harness, a compassionate appointment is made against his eligible wife/husband and son/daughter against the 5% vacancy of the total.

It has also distributed appointment letters to 767 candidates to fill up vacant posts under various departments of Directorates of Elementary Education at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, in Guwahati.

This is a part of the government’s decision to approve appointment against 22,921 sanctioned vacant posts in the state Education Department

On the occasion of Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government's completion of 100 days, it began the process of distributing appointment letters to government jobs to 1 lakh candidates in the state.

During the Assembly election campaign, CM Sarma had promised to provide jobs to 1 lakh youths of the state by March 31, 2022, if BJP is voted to power.

The recruitment process of the total of 22,921 vacant posts–10,000 in elementary schools, 5846 in Graduate Teachers, 932 in Post Graduate Teachers, 242 in Sanskrit and, 1074 in Demonstration learning will be undertaken within 10 to 15 days, said CM Sarma.

The government has earlier announced that it would hold a separate Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) for scheduled castes (SC) and hill tribes, said Sarma.

During Friday’s appointment distribution ceremony, 616 candidates were appointed to the Directorate of Elementary Education, 32 candidates to the Directorate of Secondary Education, 113 candidates to the Directorate of Higher Education, and 6 candidates to the Directorate of the State Council of Educational Research and Training.

Assam Education minister Ranoj Pegu, Handloom and Textile minister U G Brahma, Advisor to education department Nani Gopal Mahanta, Special Commissioner to Education department Pritom Saikia and Chairman of AHSEC Rukma Gohain Barua, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
