Assam's identity is under 'political attack': Himanta Biswa at PM Modi rally

Sivasagar: "Assam's political identity is under a political attack," Himanta Biswa Sarma, the BJP's go-to man in the Northeast Indian region, today said during a BJP rally at Sivasagar's historic Jerenga Pathar that also saw the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, among others.

Making a veiled attack on political rivals such as the Congress, AIUDF, and others before polls, the Assam Minister stated, "We are being with a new challenge. We are being faced with a political attack on our identity. In Jerenga Pathar, I resolve that we will fly the flag of victory and will vanquish our foes

Lauding the PM for taking an initiative in developing the vaccine, Biswa Sarma said, "We have been able to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with America and England, and we too have been able to develop vaccines and deliver them to the people."

Biswa Sarma also hailed the PM for his schemes, such as the Jan Dhan accounts and his initiative to give free rice to the people.

"Not only this, the PM greatly helped us in our fight against the COVID-19. From the PM Cares fund, we were given 960 ventilators. He gave us 1,300 oxygen concentrators. He also granted us Rs. 180 crores to set up ICUs to fight the COVID-19," he said.

Recalling the glories of the Ahom dynasty that had its base in Sivasagar town. "For 600 years, the Ahoms who weaved a golden history established their capital in Sivasagar. From Sivasagar, they took us towards a new epoch and the culture and language reached new heights. This Jerenga Pathar is the the place where Joymoti through her self-sacrifice carved out a great history."
