GUWAHATI: A day after Congress leader from Barak valley resigned from the party, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Bora has stated that the party is going to find a replacement for the leader in the next 15 days.
“We both share a relationship of a brother and sister. But if she has decided to leave the party, we need to give her place to someone who is working hard to be there where she was. In 15 days, we are going to find an alternative to Sushmita Dev.”
He also said that Sushmita Dev has taken the decision out of sheer frustration.
“For the past few days she was frustrated, but I thought she was stable like a Banyan tree, but she seemed to have blown away by a breeze,” said Borah.
On the other hand, Ripun Bora, the former president of Assam Congress has requested Dev to reconsider her decision.
“I never thought, Sushmita Dev will resign from the party. Her father was a veteran Congress leader and Sushmita was also given much respect and recognition from the party. The country is going through a tough time and so we need to stay strong. So I am requesting her to reconsider her decision.”
Dev is going to meet Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee today. Party insiders say Dev has been offered to be the CM face of TMC in upcoming Tripura polls.
