GUWAHATI: With a significant increase in the cases of COVID-19, several countries around the world are putting India on their travel ban list.

The United Kingdom, The United States, Pakistan, Hong Kong, and New Zealand among the countries which have issued new travel warnings to their citizens, advising them to avoid travelling to/from India.

The United Kingdom: A day after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson postponed his visit to India, UK authorities issued a new travel advisory on Monday, putting India on their "red list."

The order said that people arriving in the UK from India will be unable to visit the UK at all. Others will be required to stay in a hotel for 11 nights beginning April 23.

Passengers planning to travel between India and the United Kingdom should be aware that due to recent restrictions announced by the United Kingdom, flights from/to the United Kingdom have been cancelled from April 24th to April 30th, 21, the order added.

The United States: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States yesterday issued a travel advisory advising all citizens to avoid travelling to India.

The United States has categorised India in 'Level 4' COVID-19 level, which means that it has a 'Very High Level of COVID-19 in India.' "Travelers should avoid all travel to India," according to the advisory.

Pakistan: Pakistan banned Indian travellers for the next two weeks on Monday, citing the spread of a new variant of the novel coronavirus in the neighbouring country.

Hong Kong: The Hong Kong government activated an "emergency circuit breaker" late Sunday, prohibiting passenger flights from India for 14 days with effect from yesterday, citing concerns about the mutated coronavirus variant.

New Zealand: New Zealand also banned all travel from India after discovering 23 COVID-19 cases among passengers arriving from elsewhere earlier this month.

The decisions of various countries may have an impact on India's air bubble arrangements with these countries during periods when travel to or from India is restricted or prohibited.
